A Shout Out To A Good Friend

Here is me and my good friend/sister in Christ:

I would like to make a shout out to her. Hannah has always been there for me even though we live miles apart! We have bonded so easily every time we see each other. I sometimes wish we lived closer together because I would do everything with her if she did. She is a huge blessing! She is so kind, patient, loving, and compassionate. Thanks for being such a good friend Hannah :D

Taking time to pray

Prayer is so important! It's what gets me through every big and little, good and bad, thing in my life. I have been trying something new for the last month or so to help me to pray regularly. I made myself a list of times to pray and what to pray about during those times. I also try to talk to God everywhere in between and tell Him about life and what's on my heart. Here is the list:

Before I get out of bed in the morning: I thank God for the blessing he has given me. I try to be specific and thank Him for certain things that have been a blessing to me recently. I also take this time to pray for a list of people (In my head) that God has laid on my heart.

Around 11:30 in the morning: I thank God for who He is and for certain characteristics that I have noticed in my life recently.

At meal times: I thank God for the food and the day.

During my shower: I confess to God the things that I have done wrong recently and ask Him for forgiveness. I also ask Him to help me to do better.

Just before I go to bed: I pray a blessing over people in my life, friends, family, and whoever comes to my mind.

I have been working on making this a habit and I will keep trying until it is a habit! I would encourage you to make a list of times to pray and what to pray about during these times. Trust me you won't regret it :)

Psalm 55:17
Evening and morning and noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.

Something I learned
I learned recently that garlic really helps for colds. Jacqueline Thiessen decided to juice a whole clove of garlic, some apple cider vinegar and a couple other things and then she told me to drink it. Wow, did it smell bad and you don't even want to know how gross it tasted! I got it down some how and did it ever burn. After such a terrible experience it did end up helping me feel a lot better. Thanks Jacqueline :D

Showing God's love to a drunkard

On Friday, April 18th, I walked up to the bus stop and inside of the shelter there was a man sitting with a bottle of mouth wash in his hand. He looked like he was almost passed out drunk. My first thought was I am going to stay as far away from him as I can. I did say a little prayer for him in my head but I stayed outside of the shelter and when the bus came I was on my way.
While I was on my way home, God put it in my mind that I should check and see if he was still there. I looked and sure enough he was still there. I went back to my apartment and started to heat up some leftovers for supper. As I was getting my supper ready I couldn't get that man out of my head. I knew that God wanted me to do something for him but I just kept telling myself "No, it's best if I just leave him alone".
Finally I decided I had to take him something so I asked my cousin if she was willing to come with me because I didn't think I should do it on my own. She said she could so I heated up some leftovers and put them on a paper plate.
We went to him and gave him the food and he thanked us for being such nice people. We were going to leave and I said to him "God bless you" and he looked into my eyes for probably about 5 seconds and just held my gaze.
Then he said "God bless you to, always".
Then my cousin asked if it would be okay if we prayed with him.
He said "No".
My cousin said" it wouldn't be okay?"
And he said "It wouldn't be okay, it would be good".
So we laid hands on him and we prayed with him. We prayed that he would have true freedom and that he would realize that God loves him as if he were his only son.
We said good bye and that we  would keep him in our prayers and then we left.
Now looking back I am so grateful that I followed God's leading and that I went and gave food to this man who is in need of God's love. I will never ever forget the look of true gratitude on this drunk man's face. And I will always keep him in my prayers.
In Zechariah 7: 9-10 it says “This is what the Lord Almighty said: Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another."
Think about this verse and what it is saying and ask God to give you opportunities to do these things. Trust me you won't regret it!

Help through ups and downs

One thing that has really helped me through the ups and downs of life is memorizing some verses that I quote to myself when I need it. Here are the ones that have really helped me:

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

Romans 8:31
What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us who can be against us?

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.

Try memorizing some scripture that you can say to yourself during the good and bad times of this journey we call life.
